New Brighton Comedy Festival bring you two top comedians previewing their material ahead of the Edinburgh Festival this summer.
Steve Bugeja is one of comedy’s most exciting rising stars. Since winning the BBC New Comedy Award in 2013, Steve has gone on to host the BBC Radio 4 series Economics with Subtitles, and has made numerous appearances on TV shows such as Love Island: Aftersun (ITV2), Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central (Comedy Central), Zoe Ball on Saturday (ITV1) and Dog Ate My Homework (CBBC). Making a name for himself internationally, he has been invited to perform at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival for the past two years, appearing on the Opening Night Comedy Allstars Supershow (ABC1) and on Comedy Up Late (ABC1). Steve wrote and performed his own sketch 10 Things You Should Know as an Adult for BBC3, acted in 4Music’s sketch show Pop Sludge and starred in a viral comedy video for Lucozade alongside England footballer Harry Kane.
“Bugeja has an eye for original comic detail that’s all his own.’" - The Guardian “Drum tight, as if polished by a sitcom writers’ room to cram as many jokes in as humanly possible” - Chortle
Award-winning comedian Nina Gilligan exploded on to the comedy scene in 2011 and is now a regular on the UK circuit, performing at clubs and venues all over the UK. She is now also proving to be a success on the after dinner and sporting dinner circuit.
Over the past few years, Nina has been a finalist in Hilarity Bites, Breaking Acts, Kill for a Seat and Real Radio XS Judged. She won an award for Hot Water Comedian of the Year in 2013 and was a finalist in English Comedian of the Year 2016.
A bolshier Mrs Merton, she's not one to suffer fools lightly - so watch out for a razor sharp wit used at will. Her act will leave you shouting for more! Catch her at the Floral Pavilion as she previews her debut show Broad Shoulders.
*Includes a £1.50 per ticket fee. Fees capped at the first 8 tickets. No fees to Friends of the Floral.
