"We’ll be playing originals, exploring some jazz standards and having fun." Melodic, imaginative with a few stories behind the music. Two of the UK’s top jazz musicians in a rare duo performance.

Deirdre Cartwright is a London based guitarist and composer who became well known presenting the BBC TV’s ground breaking series 'Rockschool'. Also in the 1980's she played with the Afro Latin Jazz group The Guest Stars. They recorded three albums and toured in 17 countries. In 1991 she formed the Deirdre Cartwright Group. Her group has recorded five albums, and played at international festivals from Mexico to Warsaw.

More recently she has written and recorded with Emily Remembered, Paint it Blue, Solar Flares and ARQ. She has played with Tal Farlow, toured with the Jamaican composer Marjorie Whylie, presented on Radio 3 and founded Blow the Fuse with Alison Rayner.

Deirdre has written seven books on guitar playing and was head of guitar syllabus for the Rock School exam series. She presents a radio show 'Curious Adventure' for internet radio station Jazz London radio.

Alison Rayner, Runner up for best double bass in the 2018 British Jazz Awards has played with jazz legends such as US guitarist Tal Farlow, New York jazz poet Jayne Cortez, drummer Denardo Coleman and critically acclaimed jazz-Latin group ‘the Guest Stars’ in a career of over 40 years. She leads the Alison Rayner Quintet or ARQ who were winners of ‘Jazz Ensemble of the Year’ in the 2018 Parliamentary Jazz Awards. ARQ were also shortlisted as best small group in the 2018 British Jazz Awards.
